  • Directions to the house

  • The postal address is “Ranjanie”, Udupila, Mirissa. If you’re on your way to the house and you cannot find us call Rani your host on +94 (71) 835 9882. If using a local phone you just dial 071 835 9882.

  • Can we be picked up from the airport?

    Yes, we can arrange for a driver to meet you inside the arrivals hall at Colombo airport or from any other destination within Sri Lanka. Price is at cost (approx 10,500 rupees) but exact cost will be quoted on request

  • Can I come by train or by bus?

    Yes you can…  both options are available. For the Express Trains (260 rupees 2nd class) you will have to firstly make your way from the airport to Maradana Railway Station or Colombo Fort Station in Colombo. For the Express Highway buses (500rupees p/p), first you need to make your way to the Fort in Colombo, after from there you take the No.138 bus to go to Maharagama from where you can catch the Expressway Southern Bus Service http://southernexpressbus.blogspot.com/ With the train you get off at Welligama… from there it’s a 15min tuk tuk ride to Mirissa. The express buses presently stop at Matara, from there you will need to get another bus or tuktuk (approx 500rupees) to Udipilla Mirissa.

  • Can I invite guests to the house?

    Whilst you can invite guests ( max 4) for dinner or drinks ONLY REGISTERED GUESTS can stay or sleep in the house at night.

  • Can we hold parties or play loud music at the house?

    You are not allowed to hold parties or invite more than 4 guests at a time to the house or garden. Music can be played at a respectable low volume ‘chill out’ levels. We kindly ask you to respect and not disturb the relaxing ambience and obviously our neighbours.

  • Can I keep pets or smoke inside the house?

    No pets or smoking is allowed inside the house.

  • Are deposits refundable if I cancel?

    To qualify for a refund cancellations must be done 40 days before arrival. There will be a 10% charge to cover administration costs & bank charges.

  • What if we damage anything inside the house?

    Unfortunately all damages must be paid for before check out so kindly report any damages to the housekeeper.

  • Can we do a late check out from the house?

    If there is no immediate bookings this can usually be arranged with the housekeeper (latest 6pm) If there is another booking the housekeeper will gladly keep your luggage inside their home.

  • What if we need a doctor or any other assistance?

    Don’t worry you are never alone, your Sri Lankan hosts and housekeeper Rani, Nandi and their English speaking children live next door and will always be there to assist you with a big warm smile.

  • Can you help us book tours, such as whale watching?

    Yes sure, again just ask your hosts. Her son Gayan (+94 71 483 3349) will assist you with anything like this that you require, whether it’s whale watching, safari trips to the national parks, renting a bike, booking taxis to the airport or even just to help you find the best bus routes to travel around Sri Lanka.

  • Whose is this black & white dog?

    That is our dog called Salto, we rescued him from the streets as a puppy. He is very loving and dearly misses, us his owners. He is NOT allowed inside the house and PLEASE NEVER FEED THE DOG specially any tit bits whilst you’re dining at the table. Excuse the caps but we do not want the dog to learn to beg for food from the table from our guests or ourselves. He will happily guard the house for you during your stay BUT if you are not comfortable with dogs just inform the housekeeper and she will keep him on her grounds.Thank You :)
