Secret Root Spa – Mirissa

Ayurveda Message & Spa

Secret Root spa is set in a tranquil garden & is a fantastic place to Relax & Rejuvanate with a variety of massage packages on the menu & traditional ayurvedic treatments.

We highly recommend this establishment which is very professionally run by Damika and his wife.

No1 Roti Shop ( 3 mins walk from our house)

This is the place for delicious rotis & kottu, traditional Sri Lankan Curries and mouth watering sweet pancakes run by the ever so friendly Gayani. This is also a great place to do a ‘ Cooking Course’ if you want to learn how to cook some sumptuous curries.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth try the banoffi pancake and we can guarantee you’ll be back for more.

Don’t take our word for it, the place has rave reviews on the Trip Advisor website.

Call Gayani on 071 5162604 to reserve a table.

Amarasingha Restaurant / Guest House

The Amarasinghe Guest House is located 1 minute away from our house run by the eco-friendly owners who cultivate their own fruit in their vegetable garden. The Guest House contains 15 rooms meeting the needs of travelers with different budgets. The restaurant is a favourite of ours & definitely worth a try (try the devilled chicken & fish dishes). It’s also a good place to have a beer and mingle with other travellers.

Also try out the great curries cooked by Madu at the sister guest house Amarasingha Royal Lodge (4min walk from house) situated close to Udupila Junction in Mirissa.

AVM Juice Bar

Weligama (opp bus station)

One thing you should do for sure is visit a juice bar in Weligama, “AVM Cream House” to be precise. This place must rank high world wide as the king of all juice bars.  There is so many different exotic fruits to sample on the menu that you’re spoilt for choice and to top it all, it’s very cheap! My favourite has to be the avocado and also the jackfruit with ice cream, but the list is endless and all delightful. Mango, passion fruit, pineapple, papaya, pomegranate, grapes, kitala, cashew (that’s right, cashew), dates, figs, star fruit, lovi, nelli, wood apple mmmm the list is endless.
